An Academy dedicated to service culture

Académie du Service is a consultancy that for the past 10 years has supported organisations as they move towards a service culture. The extension of group Accor’s know-how was the basis for the creation of the Académie du Service, which offers consulting services, training, research and development based on the teaching, organisation and management of service.

2011

Uniting and sharing

The Académie du Service has provided its support to over 200 companies in France and abroad and shares the vision of these organisations, interested in the move towards services. The Academy is constantly expanding its expertise and knowledge base, and provides forums for reflecting and discussing related issues: clubs, conferences, newsletter, blog, etc.

2009

A strengthened strategic consultancy dimension

Faced with the crisis, many companies looking to change direction by moving towards service provision sought the support of the Académie du Service in the area of strategic consulting. This consulting area is thus developing its ServiCiel©, RéférenCiel de service© and RéférenCiel de management© methods to steer and manage service strategies.

2007

Convictions published…

"Du management au marketing des services" (From management to service marketing), a book written by Charles Ditandy –Académie du Service co-founder– and Benoît Meyronin, who divides his time between the research and development department at the Académie du Service and his position as research professor at the Grenoble Ecole de Management. This publication is still considered a reference work. It was re-published in May 2011.

2006

International projects

Claire Bonniol, Académie du Service co-founder, started implementing the “Mosaïques” project within the framework of the European Social Fund: a partnership of economic actors and professionals, convinced that service know-how can be transferred and is a factor for employment.

2002

The Académie Accor markets its know-how

Companies from outside the hotel sector started to approach Académie Accor. It operated internationally to train the sales representatives of a major luxury brand and provide support to the France Loisirs network or other major French chains. This was also the year in which the concept of the SNCF Service University was started.

2000

Jean-Jacques Gressier director of the Académie Accor

Jean-Jacques Gressier, at the time operational director of the hotel network, took the helm of Académie Accor. He headed an ambitious project to overhaul the teaching methodology and expand the international dimension. He created new Accor Academies to support the group’s development: in Africa, the Middle-East and China.

Isabelle Rongier and Charles Ditandy are also with the Académie Accor (respectively, Director of management and support projects, and Director of studies in charge of e-learning).

1985

Birth of the Académie Accor

The Académie Accor provides support for the development of the group’s networks. It is the first Enterprise University in Europe in the service area.

Its credo: the manager, trainer of his teams and responsible for his customers.

1983

Creation of Accor Group

The Novotel, Ibis and Sofitel networks grew rapidly. The acquisition of Jacques Borel International –world leader for Luncheon Vouchers, owner of a network of restaurants and corporate cafeterias– marks the birth of Accor Group.

1967

Opening of the first Novotel in France

Paul Dubrule and Gérard Pélisson took inspiration from the changes in living patterns in the US to launch a new industrial hotel concept in Europe. The concept included a range of unusual services: a desk, a grill, a swimming pool and breakfast… all for the price of a room.
